About Moment
Moment is a Zoom App that automatically captures screenshots during meetings. It works alongside a lightweight companion tool running on your computer. Screenshots can be triggered by a thumbs-up reaction, when participant count hits a new peak, or with a manual Capture Now button. Every screenshot is neatly organized into folders by meeting topic so you can revisit key moments later.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I install the companion tool?
Download the companion from the GitHub Releases page — pick the right build for your system (macOS Apple Silicon, macOS Intel, or Windows). Run it once and it will auto-start in the background on future logins.
Why does it say "Companion: Not running"?
This means the companion tool is not currently active on your machine. Moment communicates with the companion over a local connection. Make sure the companion is running — it auto-starts after the first launch, but you can also start it manually by double-clicking the downloaded file.
Where are screenshots saved?
Each meeting gets a full archive in ~/Moment/{meeting-topic}-{date}/.
Inside you'll find an archive.html viewer with participant data,
a timeline of events, and a screenshot gallery. Open it in any browser.
Can I change the save folder?
Yes. Open the Settings panel inside the Moment app during a meeting and you can configure a custom save location.
What triggers a screenshot?
There are three triggers: any emoji reaction during the meeting (you can choose which reactions to enable), a new participant peak (when the number of participants reaches a new high), or the manual Capture Now button inside the app.
